Winter is definitely a challenging time of the year for photographers. It’s known as the slow season. Even though this can be a challenging time, as you share your experiences with these locations you will book more people for winter shoots. Your clientele will be drawn to your winter photos and will want that for themselves.
To help you out, here are my top 5 locations for winter photos in Salt Lake City:
Big Cottonwood Canyon
This place is always one of my favorites!
The Loft Studio
834 N 100 E
Lehi, UT 84043
Park right in front of the building. You need to go to the back of the building to enter and walk up the stairs to the second floor where the studio is located. The street-facing side is another shop, not connected to the studio.
When you book, the studio will send you an email confirmation and the code to get inside the building. You will also be in charge of making sure the studio is cleaner than you left it when you leave.
American Fork Canyon near the Granite Flat Campground
$6 entrance fee
Take time to explore beyond Tibble Fork Reservoir! There are some incredible areas that provide an incredibly scenic view of the mountains if you’re willing to hike out and adventure a bit.
Egg Island Overlook
$10 fee per day per vehicle.
Park for free in the parking lots for the campgrounds. There are bathrooms there, too!
There are no bugs this time of year, but it gets really cold – so bundle up! (This couple was freezing, but such troopers!)
City Creek in Downtown SLC
50 Main St, Salt Lake City, UT 84101
Park for free for up to 2 hours in City Creek’s Public Parking.
This is a great location for anyone who loves the metropolitan scene. It’s full of a variety of places to shoot within a 10-minute walking radius. Every block is full of urban vibes that give a really unique look to your photos. I love the bold colors and diverse landscapes of architecture you can get from downtown!
