Has anyone listened to Rachel Hollis before? GOSH if you haven’t you’re missing out. If you’re a female then you need to hear her advice. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! Why you ask? Rachel Hollis has not only created a multi-million dollar business with a high school diploma while being an exceptional wife and mother, but she is crazy ambitious.
WHAT SHE DOES
She empowers women all over the world to RISE (as her podcast and conferences are called) to rise up to their potential. To rise up and take control of their lives. To rise up and stand up for themselves. To rise and make something of themselves. To rise up and be an exceptional wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, employee, etc. To rise up and reach their dreams! Ultimately her goal is to help women rise up and lift other women up (if you couldn’t tell from that little rant I had).
I listened to her “Girl, Wash Your Face” and “Girl, Stop Apologizing” book in March 2019. I am now listening to “Girl, Stop Apologizing” again. I like self-help books and I like feel empowered. I feel she has helped me know what I want in life and analyze what will and will not help me get there.
THINGS TO DO EVERY YEAR PODCAST
In a podcast episode recently she discussed what she does every year to make sure the upcoming year is successful, with a calendar and To Do list full of things she loves to do. I loved it so much I needed to share this with all of you!
(Scroll below for the podcast episode & my 5 things I’ll do and stop doing).
I want to focus on how she schedules her life. Literally her entire life for the year. It takes a few hours but she swears by this! It helps her to review her past year and figure out where her time was spent.
Rachel Hollis takes a few hours to do this task. She audits her calendar from the previous year and analyzes appointments she had. She reviews that to see what she liked and didn’t like about her schedule. Did it fit with her goals? Were the appointments always necessary? What was a waste of time?
HER TIPS: 5 THINGS
Make a list of 5 things you did last year that you want to do each year. Why did I do those? What do I love doing? DO MORE OF THAT! (A summary of my 5 things are below).
What things did you do last year that were wasteful? What if you could get that time and money back? What do you never want to do again? Why did I hate those things?
I want to repeat what she says. We need to “plan for the good life!” By auditing your calendar and figuring out where your time was spent, you can find out how much time you were really spending on your goals. You can analyze the activities you found most fun, most rewarding, or most wasteful. Then you can CHANGE. YOU can decide what you will fill your time with.
No one else can decide that for you! It’s a beautiful concept. I hope to apply this in my own life and fill my time with exceptional things. Tasks and activities and work that are meaningful and contributing to my goals each year.
Rachel Hollis, you’re so on point again.
