I hope anyone who knows me or keeps up with me over on Instagram already knows what I’m going to talk about. You probably guessed it – The Goal Digger Podcast. Why am I a diehard #goaldigger? Because I’m an ambitious, proactive goal setter and goal accomplisher!
I am going to talk about why I’ve religiously listened to Jenna for over a year and will continue to do so until she stops creating content. I’ll also tell you why you need to listen if you aren’t already. Yes, I’m preaching this like its gospel. Because it is – business gospel, that is.
When I moved to Utah in April 2018 my photography business was very small and it’s in early stages. I really wanted to grow my photography business in Salt Lake City, but I had only done one wedding on my own and I had no other weddings booked that year.
I began networking with other entrepreneurs in my area and trying to snatch up any chance to learn from other Salt Lake City photographers and entrepreneurs in the area.
Cali, a local entrepreneur, reached out to me on Facebook and asked if we could do a headshot trade. I eagerly said yes. We hit it off really well and not only exchanged photos but ideas on how to build our businesses. She suggested I listen to Jenna Kutcher’s podcast. I had never heard about her before but when I listened I was instantly hooked!
Now, I listen to her almost daily. Some people can’t do that but I just can’t get enough! I find so many tips on how to improve my business, social media skills, scaling, growth, personal life help, self help, etc. I’LL ADMIT IT
I AM A DIEHARD #GOALDIGGER.

What I’ve Gained
Jenna Kutcher is one of the few photographers who gives away TONS of free content. Many people sell their education resources way overpriced and you don’t see results after purchasing them (I’ve encountered this maybe twice in my career).
Jenna has a podcast. She has a blog. She does free webinars.
Then, if you’re super interested and convinced that she will help you – you can purchase her actual courses or resources.
DISCLAIMER – I’ve never actually purchased a full course by Jenna. I haven’t needed to yet (one year into listening to her podcast and following her online).
She has soo many podcast episodes that have given me a zillion and a half tips that I haven’t needed to purchase anything. I am trying to exhaust all of her free resources first because…
- She wants you to do that
- She is eager to help you learn for free
- So I can be convinced that before I pay for her education, I know I squeezed everything I can out of what she is willing to share for free.
Have Her Tips Worked?
Her tips work! My favorite tip is about Instagram. In order to increase engagement she teaches that you need to post about yourself more often! If your 6-grid doesn’t show your face then you’re doing something wrong. People NEED to know who is behind the camera.
I try to practice this (and do fairly well) but sometimes I lack enough photos of myself to post haha. However, THAT TIP WORKS. My engagement is almost always higher than posts about my couples.
Are You Convinced Yet?
I am writing this to help fellow photographers and fellow entrepreneurs out there. If you do the research and put in the time, you do not need to pay for $1000 worth of classes every year to scale your business. Growth and learning can happen for free!
