If you haven’t been to Arches National Park you are seriously missing out! I had such a blast traveling around southern Utah with these two beautiful souls. We adventured to a few different locations but during the day we took a hike out to Delicate Arch in Moab, Utah.
We picked this destination because there’s a small hike involved, an overlook, and the ability to get shots close up or far away from the arch.
Here’s how to get to the location and how to prepare for your photoshoot at Delicate Arch.
DIRECTIONS
Pretty much you can type that into your maps on your phone and be guided through the park and directly to the location. From there you’re able to hike about 1.5 miles in to the actual Arch.
Here’s the map of it.
THE HIKE
We went on a Saturday so naturally it was pretty busy. It’s not a strenuous hike, but there is a steep part for about a half mile. It’s a steady incline and not bad at all. But, it was pretty warm so I did break a little sweat. If you’re not a hiker or active you’d definitely have to stop and catch your breath.
PREPBRING WATER, just in case! I brought one bottle for myself and hardly drank it but all guides and all of the information about this hike say to bring water just in case. Because you’re in a desert. And you are hiking. In the hot sun. It’s a wise decision.

WHAT TO WEAR
We wore casual clothes because we knew it’d be hot. AND IT WAS. We were a little sweaty from hiking. My tip to prepare for your photoshoot at Delicate Arch is to:
- Wear casual clothes & shoot in casual clothes.
- Wear casual/workout clothes & bring clothes to change into and shoot in.
You’ll be much more successful and look less grimy this way!
THE DELICATE ARCH VIEW
Once we got up to the Arch it was amazing! The view is incredible. Pretty breathtaking, as you can see from the images below. There were people scattered everywhere but we did find some spots that allowed us to take photos without any other people in the background (I did have to photoshop a few shots).
I’d definitely sneak up above into the little window (found right before the last curve where you see the arch). You go off the trail on top of the smooth rock and you can sit in a window to view the arch. It’s a bit more secluded and there’s shade!
