Have you ever wondered how you can create a comfortable photoshoot for your clients? You’re not alone! Everyone wants the best possible photos to remember their special day as natural and not forced. We know the more at ease your clients feel with you, the better their photos will come out, but it can be challenging to set the right tone for your shoot. Creating that enjoyable atmosphere will help you to get the best shots.
So, as a photographer, how do you help your clients feel at home? I am going to teach you five ways you can create a comfortable photoshoot for your clients!
1. All About Them
I can’t stress this enough! When you make it about them, they’ll see you care about them; that they’re more than a paycheck at the end of the day. Your clients will always remember how you made them feel, and that feeling will come back when they look back at their photos.
Ask your clients meaningful questions about themselves and make sure to listen to their responses. Clients can tell how invested you are based on your engagement in the conversation. Have you ever talked to someone who wasn’t interested in what you have to say? I have, too. It makes you feel unimportant and uncomfortable!
A genuine conversation will put your clients at ease and set a tone of caring throughout the photoshoot. They’ll naturally be happier in the photos because they get to engage in conversation about the good things in their lives! What’s better than making someone feel good?!
2. Prepared
Coming prepared with poses/movements in mind will help your clients feel like you’re taking their shoot seriously. It will help your clients put trust in you, especially those who haven’t been in front of the camera too often. Having an assortment of movements in mind will help you to assess the situation to see what looks the most natural, and in turn, make your clients feel comfortable.
3. Passion
Passion makes all the difference. Having passion relates to how engaged you are in the shoot. If you aren’t enjoying the work, your clients will know. Think of a time when you received bad customer service. That experience probably deterred you from wanting to use their services again.
No one wants a Negative Nancy for their photographer, especially on their big day. Your clients will fear poor quality photos if you have a bad attitude, and you will lose business because of it. Having a positive attitude and a passion for your work will show your clients that you will make their shoot the best experience for them, and you will increase your chances of repeat and new clients!
4. Encourages
A natural way to make your clients feel more comfortable is to encourage them! Let them know when they’re killing it because everyone likes to know when they’re succeeding! People are much more likely to be confident and more comfortable when they feel your support.
5. Flexible
Anything can happen during a shoot. Keep an open mind and be aware of how your client is feeling. If something isn’t working, try something new. Have your client move around and help them have fun! Be willing to change according to their needs. Doing this could lead to something beautiful you might not have achieved if you didn’t try it!
If you remember these five things, you will help create the best day possible for someone to look back and enjoy. When you create a comfortable photoshoot for your clients, you will be able to see the results in the photos as well as in your future business. You will gain repeat business and will be referred more to others because of your ability to take quality photos, your professionalism, and your compassion for others.
